Public Invited to Review Recommendations for New Agreements Between Park Board and Community AssociationsFebruary 14, 2005 (No. 12) - The public is invited to a meeting of the Park Board's Culture and Recreation Committee where the final report from the Joint Operating Agreement Task Force will be presented. The agreements outline the roles and responsibilities of the partners in the joint operation of community centres and the delivery of community-based recreation services. In 2001, the Associations and the Park Board agreed to establish a Task Force to undertake a review of these agreements, many of which are over 25 years old. The Task Force recommendations focus on serving community needs, maximizing available resources and creating effective alliances. They cover a broad range of issues which, if approved, could improve community recreation services for citizens and enhance the partnership between the Park Board and local Community Associations.
