Special Events in Vancouver Parks

April 4, 2005 (No. 12) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. 28th Annual Plant Sale at VanDusen Botanical Garden, 5251 Oak Street Saturday, April 24th from 10 am - 4 pm. Over 35,000 plants for sale. Admission is free Ph. 604-257-8666.

Walk With A Naturalist in the Hastings Park Sanctuary Saturday, April 9th. Join naturalist Al Grass at the north east corner of the Sanctuary at 1 pm for this two hour, free, guided walk. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy. This invitation is not extended to dogs. Ph. 604-255-9458.

Miniature Railway/Children's Farmyard Open Good Weather Weekends from 11 am - 4 pm. Kick off spring with a visit to Stanley Park's farmyard and railway. Lots of new farmyard babies to see along with an array of delightful lambs, chicks, ducks and goats etc. Ph. 604-257-8531.

Swing into Spring with Park Board Golf Specials Check out the Park Board web site for McCleery, Fraserview and Langara Golf Courses at www.vancouverparks.ca and click on specials to discover how you can maximize your golfing dollars through a myriad of special golfing packages. For bookings go to the web site listed above to register on line.

Annual Vancouver Sun Run Sunday April 17 at 9 am. This 10 km run is expected to attract over 50,000 participants. Starts at 9 am downtown but takes runners through parts of Stanley Park. For details www.sunrun.com
