Kitsilano Beach Opens With Temporary FacilitiesMay 24, 2005 (No. 36) - The popular lifeguarded Kitsilano Beach opened for the summer on the Victoria Day long weekend for the public to enjoy with limited facilities and provisions made for safe and easy access. The Park Board is providing a number of temporary facilities to continue service to park and beach users until the new Watermark on Kits Beach Restaurant and concession building is completed. A lifeguard trailer, portable toilets, food and beverage carts and wayfinding signage to nearby amenities will be on site. Change rooms will not be available until the completion of the new building. Construction began on the year-round two level Kitsilano Beach Park restaurant and concession last year.
