Special Events in Vancouver Parks

June 1, 2005 (No. 16) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Stanley Park Rain or Shine Festival June 18th 12 noon to 6 pm near the Beach Avenue park entrance between Ceperley Meadow and 2nd Beach Pool. A multi-faceted event primed to showcase the diverse activities and programs provided by the Vancouver Park Board. Outdoor activities, umbrella parade, music and live performances, nature walks and taste tests from Stanley Park's popular restaurants and food services. Reduced prices for swimming and pitch & putt. Bard on the Beach June 2nd to Sept 25th at Vanier Park presents its annual summer Shakespeare Festival and special events. Phone: 604-737-0625.

The 2005 Vancouver Garden Show June 9th to 12th at VanDusen Botanical Garden at West 37th Ave. and Oak St. from 10 am - 6 pm. Exhibits, inspiring garden ideas, beautiful displays, great shopping and food. Phone: 604-687-4780.

Stanley Park Bike Festival June 11th 7:30 am - 2 pm Brockton Point in Stanley Park Organized by BEST. Vancouver's largest celebration of cycling. Vehicular traffic will be restricted to Brockton Point from 7 am to 12 noon. Phone: 604-733-4419.

Alcan Dragon Boat Festival June 17th to 19th at Plaza of Nations/Coopers' Park, presented by the Canadian International Dragon Boat Society. Phone: 604-683-4707.

Dog Day Afternoon June 18th 11 am - 3 pm at John Hendry Park. A virtual festival for canines with all sorts of special events, food and information for the well-behaved urban pooch. Phone: 604-257-6955.

Stanley Park FREE Shuttle Bus June 14th to September 18th, 10 am - 6:30 pm daily. A fun and convenient way to get around Stanley Park with stops at 14 popular locations. Phone: 604-257-8400.
