The Park Board is the steward of the trees on our parks and the more than 130,000 street trees that together make up our urban forest. Arboriculture staff grow trees at Vancouver's own tree farm for planting on our parks and streets each year. Together with neighbourhood groups, schools, and other agencies, the Park Board promotes and enhances our urban forest to ensure the beauty and livability of our city. For more information about the Tree Tales Writing Contest, the public can visit our web site at vancouverparks.ca or pick up an entry form at one of our community centres. The Tree Tales Contest is generously supported by the Vancouver Courier - 30 - For more information, contact: Carol DeFina, Communications Coordinator, at 604-257-8440. The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation maintains 200 parks and 40 major facilities throughout the City of Vancouver.
