Rosemary Brown Park
Official Opening
Friday, June 17th at 3:00 pm
(Just West of 12th Avenue and Arbutus Street)
June 13, 2005 (No. 50) - The public is invited to join Park Board Commissioners and the family of Rosemary Brown when they dedicate a park named for her, located at Redbud and Vine Streets, this Friday June 17th at
3:00 pm.
The park, designed by landscape architects Durante Kreuk Ltd., is a 0.12 hectare greenspace with rose gardens, flower beds, shrubs, trees and benches. The site has an interesting history as it was once the location of the Brewmaster's house of one of Vancouver's first beer companies. Equipment from the Vancouver/Carling breweries is now incorporated into the park's landscape design in recognition of the site's history.
Rosemary Brown, former Provincial Member of the Legislative Assembly, served as the Vancouver Burrard Representative from 1972 through 1979. Ms. Brown died in April 2003 and this park falls within her former riding. June 17th is the anniversary of her birthday.
The brief ceremony will be followed by cake and refreshments.
