Public Open House - Design Plan for Park Site at 37th Avenue and Oak Street

April 13, 2006 (No. 28) - The public is invited to join staff and the consultants at an open house to view the detailed design plan that has been developed for the 37th Avenue and Oak Street park site.

Thursday, April 20, 2006
5 pm to 8 pm
VanDusen Botanical Garden
5251 Oak Street
(at 37th Avenue)

The park plan will include:

  • Soccer and Ultimate playing field, oriented to save as many trees as possible
  • Informal play areas
  • Walking/jogging trails
  • Children's play area
  • Off-leash dog area
  • Natural areas and bird habitat
Two open houses were held in 2005 to solicit the community's ideas for development of the park site and many of these ideas and comments informed the design plan. A conceptual development plan for the site was adopted by the Park Board on June 13, 2005. Park construction is planned for Fall 2006.
