Special Park Board Events Kick Off Asian Heritage Month

May 1, 2006 (No. 30) - May is Asian Heritage Month across Canada and the Vancouver Park Board, in partnership with ExplorASIAN, is joining in the celebration with performances, workshops and special readings at community centres across the city.

You'll laugh at the antics of animals, wise people, and fools during the telling of Taiwanese Tales in Tandem entitled "When Two Suns Lit the Sky". These stories have been told for centuries by Taiwan's aboriginal people describing how their beautiful landscapes came to be. At the event, one storyteller speaks Taiwanese or Mandarin while the other speaks English. Together, the speakers weave a spell no matter what your language! This is a new and exciting collaboration between the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society, the Vancouver Society of Storytelling and ExplorASIAN.

Excellent for families ages 6 and older.
