Junior Lifeguard Camps OfferedJune 20, 2006 (No. 41) - The Vancouver Lifeguard Association is now accepting registration for the popular "Beach Alert" Junior Lifeguard Camps offered from July 3rd to August 18th. The week long camps run in the morning on one of Vancouver 's most popular beaches from 9 am - 12 noon and are structured for ages 9 - 15. All camp participants must first know how to swim in order to attend. The camps are offered in the Kitsilano Beach Park area and introduce skills and knowledge that include: Bronze Medallion, Bronze Course, National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool and Waterfront Certification, Emergency First Aid, CPR and competition skills. The program is taught and supervised by certified waterfront lifeguards, instructors and coaches and is designed to provide a safe and fun learning environment for young attendees employing equipment used everyday by Vancouver's lifeguards such as rowboats, paddle boards and open kayaks. -30- For program costs and more
