Grow Natural/Chafer Beetle Day

July 10, 2006 (No. 49) - Join Park Board staff and learn all about the European Chafer Beetle now affecting lawns in the east part of Vancouver at a special Grow Natural Day set for Saturday, July 22 from 10 am - 3 pm at Champlain Heights Community Centre, 3350 Maquinna Drive. Find out how to control this pest without using pesticides and get other tips from gardening experts on natural yard care.

Along with demonstrations, talks and detailed information about the City's pesticide by-law, biological controls for the Chafer Beetle (nematodes) will be on sale at cost to Vancouver residents for $35 per package. One package of the microscopic nematodes covers 750 square feet of lawn. This offer is only available to Vancouver residents so buyers should bring proof of residency.
