Brockton Point Road Closure Stanley Park September 5 - October 31August 24, 2006 (No. 59) - Vehicular access to Brockton Point in Stanley Park will be closed for construction work, during working hours, from September 5th through October 31st. Two projects will be completed simultaneously to avoid disruptions later in the year. Balustrade and staircase reconstruction will be undertaken near the Brockton Point Lighthouse area while a section of new road will be built between Brockton Point and the Totem Poles on the north side of Stanley Park Drive. Vehicular access will be re-routed via the Brockton Totem Pole Cut-Off road. Bicycles and other wheeled traffic will be able to use their regular seawall route but the seawall pedestrian pathway will be diverted to an alternative detour route The closures will be in effect Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm. The road will be open, but rough, following workdays and on the weekend. Construction work involving asphalting requires scheduling during the more predictably dry months. - 30 - Contact Joyce Courtney, Manager Communications, at 604-257-8699.
