Falaise Park Wetland Official Opening Sunday, September 24th at 11 am

September 14, 2006 (No. 65) - The public is invited to join in the environmental celebrations surrounding the official opening of the Falaise Park Wetland on Sunday, September 24th from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Located at 3300 Worthington Drive just east of Rupert Street and south of Grandview Highway, the wetland site is on the western perimeter of the 7.67 hectare greenspace. The project's objective was to capture surface runoff waters in a series of gardens using native plants. This will help enhance local habitat, improve park aesthetics, provide environmental and educational opportunities and enable greater community use of the park.

Opening Event Program
11 am - Falaise Park Wetland event starts
11:30 am - Speeches and Official Opening
12 noon - 12:30 pm - Continuing celebration including refreshments, plantings and scavenger hunt
12:30 - 2 pm - Open House at Happy Corner Preschool at Falaise Community Hall
12:30 - 4 pm - BC Rivers' Day events at Renfrew Ravine Park located at Renfrew St. & East 29th Ave.
including planting, weeding and clean-up
1 pm - 2 pm - Gumboot Streamside tour at Renfrew Ravine Park

The Project's Landscape Architect was Lees + Associates Ltd. and the contractor was C.A.P. Ventures Ltd. The Falaise Park Wetland was funded through the Park Board Capital Plan.
