Park Board Elects New Chair, Vice Chair

December 12, 2006 (No. 90) - Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Ian Robertson was elected as the organization's new Chair at last night's Park Board meeting. Commissioner Korina Houghton was elected as the new Vice Chair. The election of the new Chair and Vice Chair marked the beginning of the current Park Board's second year of a three year term (2006-2008).

Ian Robertson is Director, Sustainable Development, with Rocky Mountaineer Vacations. During his first year as Park Commissioner, Ian served on the Finance Committee and is liaison to the Vancouver Field Sports Federation and the Vancouver Aquarium along with Dunbar, Trout Lake and Riley Park Community Centres. His interest lies in economic development that is socially responsible and environmentally sustainable. Ian has been involved in amateur sport primarily through the participation of his two sons in field sports. He served as President of Dunbar Little League for four years.

Korina Houghton works as Office Manager at Timberline Natural Resource Group. She is currently Chair of the Park Board Planning Committee and serves as liaison to the Jericho Sailing Centre Association, VanDusen Botanical Garden and the Vancouver Heritage Commission along with Renfrew, Strathcona and West Point Grey Community Centres. She has worked in recreation area management for BC Hydro and other ecological reserves in Canada. In addition, she has an extensive sports background and was a BCRPA certified Fitness Instructor. Korina also founded and is President of the Foundation for Hope for Children's Hospitals.
