Special Events in Vancouver Parks

April 4, 2007 (No. 9) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Easter Egg Hunts at the Children's Farmyard in Stanley Park April 6 - 9 from 11 am - 4 pm. Join a life-sized bunny as he leads free Easter egg hunts on the hour. Miniature Railway will also be open with a "Hare-Like" conductor in the driver's seat! Ph. 604-257-8531.

Miniature Railway/Children's Farmyard Open Good Weather Weekends from 11 am - 4 pm. Kick-off spring with a visit to Stanley Park's farmyard and railway. Lots of new farmyard babies to see along with an array of delightful lambs, chicks, ducks and goats etc. Ph. 604-257-8531.

Annual Vancouver Sun Run Sunday, April 15 at 9 am. This 10 km run is expected to attract over 50,000 participants. Starts at 9 am downtown but takes runners through parts of Stanley Park. For details www.sunrun.com

Walk With A Naturalist in the Hastings Park Sanctuary Saturday, April 21 at 6 am. Join a team of naturalists at the northeast corner of the Sanctuary and hear the Dawn Chorus of birds to celebrate Earth Day! Two hour, free guided walk. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy. This invitation is not extended to dogs. Ph. 604-255-9458.

Earth Day Celebrations at Everett Crowley Park Saturday, April 21 from 11 am - 3 pm. Join the festivities and help plant 700 trees. Music, food and entertainment for the whole family. Ph.604-718-6575.

Earth Day Celebrations at Jericho Beach Park Saturday, April 21 from 11 am - 5 pm. Plant native species and remove invasive ones in an atmosphere of fun and entertainment. Free nature walks too.

30th Annual Plant Sale at VanDusen Botanical Garden, 5251 Oak Street Sunday, April 29 from 10 am - 4 pm. Over 40,000 plants for sale. Admission is free. Ph. 604-257-8666.
