Local Youth Help Reopen Legendary Kits Beach Basketball Courts Upgraded through Donations by Former Team Canada MembersMay 4, 2007 (No. 28) - The media is invited to the reopening of the newly refurbished Kits basketball courts, generally regarded as the "mecca" for beach / street basketball in Canada and enjoying one of North America's most spectacular backdrops. The Kits Secondary School Senior Boys Basketball Team and the Vancouver East and Vancouver West U-15 Boys Spring League Teams will join former Team Canada members Ron Putzi and Howard Kelsey and Park Board Chair, Ian Robertson in the reopening celebration on Saturday, May 5th at noon. The project recognizes the importance of this community amenity for present and future generations of young athletes. The opening event also coincides with Vancouver's annual Youth Week celebrations, May 1st to 7th. Reopening Celebration Richmond's Ron Putzi and Point Grey's Howard Kelsey have been working in partnership with the Park Board to partially fund the project.
