Move for Health Day Events Support Active Living

May 7, 2007 (No. 30) - Residents of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of activities at several Park Board community centres on Thursday, May 10th, to celebrate "Move for Health Day." Since 2002 the World Health Organization has designated May 10th as an annual day to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for maintaining good health. Three Park Board community centres has organized "Move for Health" activities.

"Move for Health Day" is supported by the Active Communities Vancouver initiative. The City of Vancouver was the first municipality in British Columbia to accept the Provincial Government's 2004 challenge to increase physical activity levels of residents 20% by 2010. "Move for Health Day" is just one of many programs the Park Board is using to inspire, support and equip residents to become more physically active.
