Special Events in Vancouver Parks
July 5, 2007 (No. 18) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse
range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some
upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. For

Free Evening Rock 'n the Harbour Concerts at New
Brighton Park, Tuesdays July 10th, 24th
and August 7th from 6 to 8:30 pm. Bring the family and
a picnic supper and enjoy music by the sea. Rain dates for each concert
on the following Thursday. Ph. 604-718-6232.
Free Nature Walk in the Hastings Park Sanctuary Saturday
July 28th at 10 am. Meet at the northeast corner of the
Sanctuary for this two hour, free, guided walk. After the walk, help
celebrate the spotting of the 100 plus bird species since the Sanctuary
opened 8 years ago. Rain or shine. Sponsored by the Hastings Park Conservancy.

76th ACURA Stanley Park Open Tennis Tourney July 7th -
22nd at the Stanley Park tennis courts near the Fish House
Restaurant presented by Tennis BC. Over 75 events for junior, adult,
wheelchair and senior participants, novice to professional levels. Ph.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival July 13th - 15th at Jericho
Beach Park offers the world's finest traditional
and contemporary folk and roots music. Ph. 604-602-9798.
Walk with the Dragon July 15th at 9 am in Stanley Park
presented by SUCCESS. This community-based fundraising event includes
the Stanley Park seawall walk and lots of activities, food and entertainment.

Free Outdoor Movie at Killarney Park's north field Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 pm. Bring family, friends and a blanket to sit on to watch the hilarious movie Night At The Museum on a 40' X 24' outdoor screen. Sponsored by the Killarney Community Centre. Ph. 604-718-8200.
Illuminares July 28th at dusk at John Hendry Park (Trout
Lake) on Victoria Drive between East 13th and East 18th
Avenues is presented by the Public Dreams Society. A magical, pyrotechnic,
summertime, family event with paper lanterns, music and a fireworks

HSBC Celebration of Light July 25th & 28th and August
1st & 4th at 10 pm presented by the Vancouver Fireworks
Society at English Bay. Spain, Canada and China compete in this fireworks
extravaganza.
Stanley Park FREE Shuttle Bus June 19th - September 23rd,
10 am - 6:30 pm daily A fun and convenient way to get
around Stanley Park with stops at 15 popular locations. Ph. 604-257-8400.
Farmers' Markets featuring farm fresh
fruits, vegetables & plants, quality local crafts, delicious edibles
