Jericho Beach Park
Rest & Read
July 16th through August 31st
July 16, 2007 (No. 44) - In the coming weeks, visitors strolling along Jericho Beach Park on English Bay may find some interesting reading material along the way. From July 16th through August 31st there will be stories and poems fixed on 34 benches in Jericho Beach Park. These writings have been recorded over the past 20 years by seniors from across the city and active in the Brock House Society's Lifewriting program. This special event, in its third year, is a collaboration between the Brock House Society, the Brock House Writers and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. It is certain to provoke memories in all those who take the time to Rest and Read.
Brock House Society is a seniors' activity
centre housed in a heritage mansion at 3875
Point Grey Road. Since 1985, it has been
home to the Brock House Writers. This summer
event invites passersby to sit for a moment
and learn about lives lived and adventures
experienced.
People wishing to respond to any of the authors' stories may leave a note at the front desk of Brock House, weekdays from 10 am - 4 pm, or email brockhousewriters@yahoo.ca
