February 29, 2008 (No. 8) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Spring Run-Off 8K Race Lumbermen's Arch in Stanley Park Sunday, March 9th at 10 am. Join the 2nd Annual Harry's Spring Run-Off 8K to fight Prostate Cancer supporting local prostate cancer research programs. NOTE: Daylight Savings Time begins March 9th at 2 am - set your clocks forward! Go to www.canadarunningseries.com/spring8k for details.

St. Patrick's Day Dash Brockton Point Cricket Pavilion in Stanley Park on Saturday, March 15th at 10 am. Join the Running Room's 3rd annual St. Patrick's Day 5K in support of Canadian Diabetes Association. Go to www.stpatricks5k.com for more information.

Medicine Wheel Ceremony VanDusen Botanical Garden, West 37th Ave and Oak St, Sunday, March 16th from Noon to 3 pm. Join elders from the First Nations' community in a spiritual ceremony at the First Nations' Medicine Wheel in the Canadian Heritage Garden to mark the changing of the seasons. Children's Farmyard and Miniature Railway Stanley Park open for Spring Break/Easter everyday from March 15th to 24th from 11 am to 4 pm. Visit all the family's old favourite barnyard friends plus some new additions. The biggest Easter Egg Hunt in town runs March 21st to the 24th. Ph. 604-257-8531.

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Various Locations March 25th to April 20th. Enjoy the third annual city-wide cherry blossom celebration this spring which includes the Cherry Jam Downtown Concert, Plein-air Blossom Painting, Blossom Biology, Tree Talks and Walks and much more.
