Media Invited Launch of 2008 "Active Adventure Passport" - Helping Thousands of Kids and Families Get Active

March 11, 2008 (No. 9) - The media is invited to the official launch of the 2008 Active Adventure Passport, a program that is helping kids and the community "Step It Up 20%" towards a healthier, more active life. Piloted in 2006 at Tillicum Elementary School with only 130 students and families participating, the Active Adventure Passport program has expanded to now include all of the elementary schools in the east and north areas of Vancouver (a total of 59 locations) - with 20,000 students in Kindergarten to Grade 7 and their families taking part this year.

Park Board Chair Korina Houghton will be joined at the launch by Vancouver School Board officials, Vancouver Active Communities Network representatives and students.

Active Adventure Passport is part of the Active Communities Vancouver initiative, inspiring residents of all ages to be 20% more active by 2010. The colourful and fun passport contains 10 free and fun active adventures - swimming, skating, exploring in local parks and more.
