Tailor Made: Chinatown's Last Tailors

Winner of a Golden Reel Award for the Best Short Film
at the 2008 Los Angles Asian Pacific Film Festival

April 28, 2008 (No. 17) - In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, the public is invited to a attend a screening of a special film entitled Tailor Made that follows 80-something brothers Bill and Jack Wong for one year as they face the reality that they're getting too old to run the little tailor shop their father opened in 1913. and letting go isn't easy. With tailoring becoming a dying trade, finding someone to take over the family business has proved impossible, but Bill refuses to give up. From taking on a fashion journalist as an apprentice, to selling the shop to a young hot-shot corporate tailor, Bill becomes especially determined and pulls out all the stops.

In Canada, the month of May is officially recognized as Asian Heritage Month and acknowledges the long and rich history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Canada. Since the inaugural Asian Heritage Month celebration in Toronto in 1993, cities across Canada have been holding Asian heritage festivities during the month of May.
