This neighbourhood park is a welcome refuge largely for passive recreation for those who live and work nearby. The Phase 2 development includes the following work:

  • asbestos survey and removal in existing buildings
  • demolition of existing buildings
  • environmental site assessment
  • closure of lane and relocating utilities underground
  • design and construction of Phase 2 based on the concept plan approved by the Park Board and City Council in 1997 which includes trees, a large lawn, pathway, playground and entrance features

Phase 1 of Emery Barnes Park, facing Richards Street, was completed in 2003. Phase 2 of the park development will add 5,335 square meters of green space to the existing park for a total area of 8,973 m² (96,587 ft²).

The public can also share their comments by email to pbcomment@vancouver.ca, by phone at 604-257-6911, and by fax at 604-257-8365. The plan can also be viewed on-line at vancouverparks.ca.
