Stanley Park Hallowe'en Ghost Train
– NOW OPEN!
October 8, 2010 (Vancouver, BC) – The Vancouver Park Board today opened the annual Stanley Park Hallowe'en Ghost Train located at the Miniature Railway plaza in Stanley Park. Board the train and follow Alice on a wild ride through NIGHTMARELAND for the month of October.
This year's theme "Alice in Nightmareland" is the work of the Mortal Coil Performance Society. Artistic Directors Sharon Bayly and Peter Hall head up this year's crew of actors, dancers, stilt performers, and puppeteers.
"Putting an eerie interpretation on the Alice in Wonderland story has been very inspiring for our company," said Hall. "We expect to see a lot of pale faces as riders of the Ghost Train travel down the rabbit hole into the dark haunted forest filled with demonic playing cards, a disturbed Caterpillar and a Queen with an axe to grind."
Riders of the Ghost Train can also visit the Mad Hatters Workshop and the Haunted Farmyard. On Tuesday through Saturday nights, the Stanley Park Ecology Society will lead Creatures of the Night theatrical walks.
Presented by Investors Group, Ghost Train has become an annual tradition for thousands of families and thrill-seekers throughout the month of October. Mortal Coil has been creating new ghostly themes each year for the Stanley Park landmark event.
The Ghost Train runs from October 8, through Thanksgiving weekend, until October 31, nightly from
6-10 PM at the Miniature Railway in Stanley Park (off Pipeline Road). Advance tickets are available now through Ticketmaster at 604.280.4444 or www.ticketmaster.ca or in person at any Ticketmaster location.
