Enjoy your favourite field sport—soccer, football, field hockey, rugby, cricket, lacrosse or ultimate—on one of Vancouver's many play fields.

The Vancouver Park Board has a total of 153 play fields ranging from non-regulation size or gravel fields to regulation size grass sport fields and artificial turf. The fields offer more than 153,000 hours of playing time and are in high demand by residents of all ages. In a given year, playing fields are utilized by users more than two million times per year.

New artificial turf fields

Four new artificial turfs have been added to the Park board's inventory making them a cost effective way to meet the increasing demands of a growing city. We also have almost 70 softball diamonds and numerous sand and grass volleyball courts throughout Vancouver.

Look before you book!

Depending on your needs, we offer a range of ways to book facilities. Leagues, programs and events can apply online months in advance and confirm the availability of their fields with plenty of time to plan their seasons. Residents who just want a space for a spontaneous event or practice can also book. We look forward to helping you.

If you are interested in operating commercial recreation activities (i.e. bootcamps, yoga, dog obedience, etc.) on Vancouver's public parks or beaches, please see Commercial Recreation Events on Parks & Beaches.

Submit a play field application

Proof of insurance, payment and non-profit status (if applicable) are required before a permit is issued.

Scheduling priority for field bookings are given to historical permit holders. Most permit holders are leagues that the public can join.

Check the Field Status Page (FSP) before you play!

The purpose of the FSP is to secure the public's help to ensure the quality and longevity of Vancouver Park Board grass play fields. Weekend status and field closures are listed on the Field Status Page.

Tournaments

Health regulations govern the number of toilets required for given numbers of people at special events. If toilets are needed for your event, you will be required to secure and provide (and pay for) these toilets. There is also a fee for extra garbage pick-up (on a per bag basis).
