Greenest City 2020: A Bright Green Future

We all want to live in a city that is vibrant, affordable, and sustainable.

We value the beauty of our natural setting, and rely on the prosperity that has been created from our abundant natural resources. We want an environment that is healthy, and jobs that are rewarding and secure.

But, while we live in what is widely recognized as the most liveable city in the world, our environmental footprint is currently three times larger than the earth can sustain.

The decisions we make every day about how we move around the city, what we buy, and how we deal with our waste means that we currently use far more than our share of the Earth's resources.

Greenest City 2020 is a bold initiative that will address Vancouver's environmental challenges. Through a set of measurable and attainable targets, we will put the city on the path to sustainability, and make us the greenest city in the world by 2020.
