What Activities Keep You Fit and Active?
As a member of the Renfrew Chinese Seniors Group, I enjoy many activities organized by the group, especially those that involve group and social dance.
What Motivated You to Become Active?
I began by volunteering to assist in the planning and organizing of events sponsored by the group. It was so rewarding to see how the members enjoyed the functions, and it made me feel so good, I volunteered even more of my time! The biggest motivation is to make a contribution to my community.
How Do You Motivate Yourself to Stay Fit?
I have come to make a lot of friends in the community through my volunteering work. We enjoy a lot of activities – dancing, karaoke, seminars and day trips to points of interest throughout greater Vancouver. That's what motivates me to stay active and fit!
What Are the Benefits of Being Fit?
I have so much energy! Since I began to participate in this group 11 years ago, I have found that I am more alert and agile in spite of my age (no I'm not sharing)! Through participating, I have built friendships, self-confidence and organizational skills as well.
What Are Your Future Fitness Goals?
I plan to continue to participate, stay agile
and have more fun in the years to come. As
a senior, there is no better way to stay
healthy than by feeling young at heart!
