Every Lawn A Garden

Every Lawn A Garden's mission is for every household in BC to have a food garden (a 'local' food supply) and for every community in BC to increase the capacity of its local food supply through a system of community and local gardens. Every Lawn A Garden operates on a partnership model, working with municipal governments, community organizations, employers, citizens, and others to promote food producing gardens, and is supported by an online gardening community to connect people, organizations, and ideas. Participation in Every Lawn A Garden is open to communities, organizations, and individuals. There is no cost to participate. Visit them on the web at www.everylawnagarden.ca

Strathcona Community GardenThe Edible Schoolyard

DV Cuisine and producer Nick Versteeg recently launched 'The Edible Schoolyard', a DVD that aims to inspire school children about the possibilities and the magic of starting a garden at their school and promote the rewards of eating fresh, organic vegetables, and the journey from seed to plate. Inspired by California restaurateur Alice Waters, DV Cuisine has created a 25 minute program designed to pique kids' interest and encourage them to start an edible schoolyard garden at their schools. The DVD includes two up-and-running Vancouver Island gardens. On April 18, 2007, DVDs of The Edible Schoolyard will be available, free of charge, to all 2300 schools in British Columbia. The project partners include DV Cuisine at www.dvcuisine.com  with FarmFolk/City Folk www.ffcf.bc.ca  and Lifecycles at www.lifecyclesproject.ca
