Creekside Community Dance Project
Creekside Community Recreation Centre, Vancouver's newest community centre and legacy of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, welcomes all community members to join Creekside's resident dance artist and choreographer Julie Lebel in this exciting and interactive community dance flash mob project. Imagine a large dance flash mob with pregnant mothers, moms, dads, grandmothers and caregivers with the baby/toddler in a carrier or stroller. Participation is free! Youth, seniors and adults without children are also welcome.

Amanda recently graduated from NSCAD University as an Interdisciplinary artist with focuses on drawing, sculpture, jewellery and printmaking. Photography is also a great importance as tool for development and documentation of art process and ephemeral projects. Her artist interests include influences from the natural world, collections, memory and mark making (physical and mentally), history, music, imagination and the visual realm. Amanda is currently working with Julie as the artist intern at Creekside.
Julie Lebel
Julie
performs, presents and teaches contemporary dance and improvisation in theatres, studios and site-specific settings with musicians, visual artists, professional dancers and non-dancers of all ages. Her favourite projects are community and physical engagement. Julie is also a new mom of twin girls!
Seeking participants for a Stroller Dance Flash Mob at Creekside Community Recreation Centre.
Creekside invites you to participate in this exciting and interactive community dance flash mob project to be performed on March 19th, 2011.
Register for a Flash Mob learning workshop to learn simple choreography. Please pre-register at Creekside.
- Friday, Feb 25 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm
- Saturday March 5 from 9:30am to 11:00 am
- Thursday March 17 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm.
We need all participants to be available on March 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Exact performance time will be shared to participants only.

Manabu Koshimura is the Recreation Programmer at Creekside Community Recreation Centre. He is assisting with the facilitation of Julie Lebel's Stroller Dance Flash Mob residency and invites everyone to join the event on March 19 in the heart of the former Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Village.

You can join in many ways:
- Weekly - Tuesdays from 12:00pm-2:00pm (Nov. 9, 2010 – Mar. 2011). Join our small group sessions to warm up, create the flash mob choreography and explore movement in gentle ways with our babies beside us.
- Workshops - Register for one of our Flash Mob learning workshops (dates TBA) and be a part of the final performance on March 19, 2011. We will contact you with a series of convenient dates and times you can choose from to learn the simple choreography.
- Outreach - Julie can come to your own parents and baby groups to talk about the project and perhaps dance a little if there is space!
Note: Volunteer positions are available for many activities including documentation.
Also, please let us know if you need child minding for an older child.
