Artists in Communities Create in Local Neighbourhoods
Thunderbird: Artist Corinna Hanson and intern artist Paola Antia will work with local residents from the community facilitating a series of workshops based in the ancient art of mosaics. Participants will create mosaic artworks that will be permanently installed inside the community centre. Mosaic is the ideal medium for people of all ages to contribute on a collaborative artwork. During preliminary workshops the community will also have the opportunity to create images based on their individual interpretation of the projects theme of Community Roots. Once the overall design is finalized, participants will begin working with the mosaic materials. This is an opportunity for everyone to participate in the making of an art piece that will brighten up the community centre interior.
