Vancouver Draw Down 2011

Summer of Ten Thousand Drawings

The Vancouver Park Board is working in partnership with many communities and organizations to present Vancouver Draw Down 2011. These projects fall in line with the Park Board's own strategic objectives around promoting the arts in everyday life; developing strategies for broader participation and expanding community partnerships.

Vancouver, Let's Draw!

Challenge your preconceptions about drawing and reconnect with the creative pleasure of making your mark. This summer you're invited to take part in a series of unique and exciting drawing events taking place across the city. Contribute in person or online to a range of collaborative artworks that accumulate over time. This celebration of drawing will culminate on Saturday, July 23 with the Vancouver Draw Down Finale, a day-long city wide celebration of drawing.

All of the Vancouver Draw Down drawing activities will focus on the process and pleasure of drawing, rather than skill and technical ability. Participants will be invited to share their creativity using a range of drawing materials. Drawings will be developed within a range of formats, including workshops and drop-in activities, both inside and out-of-doors at the participating sites.

Samples of the work produced during these workshops will be displayed at each of the participating sites as well on this website. Check out our Creatures Gallery and Faces Gallery to see samples of some of our projects, along with detailed DIY instructions.
