International Women's Day

Vancouver Park Board commemorates International Women's Day by honouring a woman from your community!

March 8th is International Women's Day, a day when people come together to recognize and celebrate the achievements and milestones on the path to equality, justice, and peace.

This year, International Women's Day will be observed in Vancouver City Council Chambers on Monday, March 9, 2009, from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. The Park Board's very successful poster project, Remarkable Women: Honouring Women from our Vancouver Communities will be on displayin the lobby outside Council chambers. The event will be followed by a reception in the lobby.

You can join in the celebration by creating your own poster for Remarkable Women. Poster templates have been made available to all Community Centres giving community members the opportunity to create posters of women they would like to honour—mothers, sisters, grandmothers, athletes, teachers, mentors—or any other woman who has had a significant impact on their life. Please contact your local Community Centre for details. Or click here to download your very own poster template .
