Remarkable Women 2011In January, the Vancouver Park Board announced the Remarkable Women for 2011. In keeping with the City's 125 Anniversary celebrations, the theme for 2011 is community builders in recognition of the fact that a strong and vibrant city is built by its inhabitants. These women, of diverse backgrounds and abilities, represent a commitment to improving their communities through volunteerism, hard work, advocacy and a passionate dedication to change for the good of everyone. The Remarkable Women reception on March 8, the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day, was attended by over 200 people and a good time was had by everyone. Thanks to everyone who came and participated in the celebration held at Creekside Recreation Centre. And thank you to the 2011 Remarkable Women for being part of this project and for all the hard work they do. ![]() Remarkable Women Chris Morrisey and Christian Panis meet with the members of YES. ![]() 2011 Remarkable Women with Commissioners Loretta Woodcock and Constance Barnes. ![]() An appreciative audience of approximately 200 people give the Remarkable Women a well deserved standing ovation. ![]() The young women of Youth Empowered and Safe project (YES) were in attendance to assist with the festivities.
