CHAIR'S REPORT
The Chair reported on Women's
History Month, being celebrated in October
through a poster display at the Vancouver
Archives and at various community centres.
STAFF REPORTS
Cottonwood Community Garden
Proposal
The expansion of Cottonwood Community Garden
in East Vancouver's Strathcona Park was approved.
The additional 80 to 100 plots will allow
for more food production and help further
activate the area for the neighborhood.
Vancouver Sport Strategy Implementation
Plan
The Board approved the Vancouver Sport Strategy
Implementation Plan and endorsed a request
to Council for $100,000 additional funding;
they also authorized staff to seek additional
funding support from other levels of government
and participating organizations for implementation
of the plan. The progressive Strategy, being
led by the Park Board, is a guide to the
City's future initiatives and engagement
with quality sports programs, facilities
and events, within the Canadian Sport for
Life framework.

October 27, 2008.
