FALSE CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
President's Message
Winter is here! The long anticipated 2010 Olympic Games will take place in
February and False Creek Community Centre will be right in the heart of the
action. The Centre will be home to Place de la Francophonie 2010 during the games. La
Francophonie has many wonderful events and activities planned for the public and I encourage
you to check out their website at www.placefranco2010.ca - come down, meet some new
people, join in the festivities and share in the camaraderie of the games.
The Centre will remain open through the games though scheduling in February will be
altered somewhat. Please check the program guide, our website (www.FalseCreekCC.ca)
or at the front desk for schedule details. The fitness centre and daycares will operate as
usual through February.
Winter 2010 – such an exciting time to be in Vancouver and in particular, on Granville Island.
Yes, there will be a few inconveniences but what an opportunity to welcome the world to
our little corner of it. Sports, culture, arts, food – there will be something for everyone.
Of course above and beyond the Olympics, the Centre continues to offer a wide range
of programming for young and old. There are even a few new courses and workshops to
tempt you.
We are in for an exciting winter. Do come and share in the fun with us.
Regards,
Eileen Pedde, President
