Goodbye to an old friend Plans to replace Mount Pleasant Community Centre (MPCC) have been underway since 2001, after the Vancouver Board of Parks and recreation (Park Board) accepted an engineer's report outlining numerous structural inadequacies. The MPCC, built in 1966, is approaching the end of its lifespan, but will operate until staff move to the new location at Kingsway and Main Street by the end of the year.
| Say hello to a beautiful new space The move will mean programs and services currently provided at 16th and Ontario will soon be delivered at Mount Pleasant Centre - a gleaming multi-service civic ceentre with virtually everything under the roof. The heart of the building is the new Community Centre, 24% bigger and only one kilometer away from the old site, featuring a gym and climbing wall, a fitness centre, dancing studio, multi-purpose rooms and outdoor space. Mount PLeasant Centre will also house a new Vancouver Public Library, Child Development Centre, café and market value rental housing.

Situated at West 16th Avenue and Ontario Street, Mount Pleasant Community Centre is in one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods located at the heart of the city. Its ethnically and economically diverse residents live in a mix of single dwelling and high density housing.
The recreation facility has a fitness centre, gymnasium, racquetball courts, several multi-purpose rooms and an outdoor swimming pool. The centre is a hub of neighbourhood recreation with extensive programs in preschool, out of school care, fitness, art, youth and senior programs. Several outreach programs are also focused here providing services to neighbouring schools.
The facility is sited on Mount Pleasant Park (1.12 hectares) and one of the city's popular bikeways passes the centre along Ontario Street.
The Mount Pleasant Community Centre is in the process of being relocated to a new site at #1 Kingsway (Kingsway and Main Street). The new facility is currently being constructed.
Mount Pleasant Community Centre is jointly operated by Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association and the Vancouver Park Board.
