Temporary Sculpture Exhibits at
Several Vancouver Parks

Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale

May 26, 2006 - In September 2005 sculptures started to be placed in Vancouver parks as part of the Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale. To date, pieces have been installed at a variety of greenswards including Devonian Harbour, Coal Harbour, Thornton, English Bay, Vanier and Morton Parks.

The Park Board emphasizes that the organizers of the display will undertake all costs related to it and that it is temporary in nature with plans for coming down in April 2007 following its 18 month run.

Starting in 1998, sculptures from around the world have appeared as temporary exhibits on parks in Vancouver. Originally sponsored and funded by Buschlen Mowatt Galleries, these exhibits are now a part of the Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale. The Park Board has entered into an agreement (See Board Report) with the Biennale to enable a number of 18-month exhibits to take place in parks over the next 10 years.
