Today is World Day for WaterMarch 22, 2010 is designated as U.N. World Day for Water around the world. Water is a resource that is precious to the people of Vancouver for recreation in both natural and architectural settings. As such water plays a key role in many of the Vancouver Park Board's areas of responsibility, from swimming pools to ponds, lakes and beaches. We also celebrate the return of the herons to False Creek at this time of year. Not so long ago the conditions of the creek were such that the herons did not live here and it has only been with improvements to the ecology of False Creek that they have returned. So celebrate this day: visit a beach, take a walk around Trout Lake or drop in to one of our indoor pools.
