The Vancouver Park Board offers a wide variety of summer employment
positions, some of which are listed below. Some jobs are hired
directly through community centres, the aquatics section or concession
operators and others through applications for general outdoor work, available
at the
Park Board Administration Office at 2099 Beach Avenue (Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 5 pm).
Whatever your employment plans, the Park Board offers a broad range
of summer experiences featuring outdoor jobs that could lead to memorable
seasons under the sun or even full-time careers. Park maintenance, general
horticulture, golf course maintenance, playground leaders, swim instruction,
lifeguarding and more are all on tap each summer. Read on and see if

Seasonal Employment
Labour (Operations Worker - Horticulture)
Application forms can be faxed to 604-257-8185, mailed, or dropped off to the Park Board Administration Office at 2099 Beach Avenue (Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 5 pm).

Seasonal hiring generally takes place in April/May but may occur at any time in the year.

Recreation Services
If you wish to work in recreation facility programs, you must apply
in person to the recreation facilities as mentioned
below. Recreation positions vary, and include classified auxiliary positions
and short-term grant positions. Summer staff are not recruited from
either of the above applicant categories.
Classified Auxiliary positions are recruited as follows:
Beach/Outdoor
Pool Lifeguards: applications are available from the Vancouver Aquatic
Centre, 1050 Beach Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V6E 1T7; Fax: 604-665-3455.

regarding Vancouver's Annual
Lifeguard School, held January through April.
Outdoor Pool Swim Instructor and Cashier Positions:
Forward applications/resumes to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre,

indoor pool staff are recruited at local community-based facilities,
year round.
Playground Leader Positions (July-August):

Day Camp Inclusion Support Worker Positions (July-August):

Local Community Association Grant positions are recruited as follows:
Summer Day Camp Program Positions, working with children under
13, jobs will target full-time students only. Contact
the Recreation Programmer responsible for summer day camps at each centre,
March/April.
Other Programs, contact the centre Recreation Programmer for
information, year-round.

** Please note: Seasonal and auxiliary recruiting procedures in
Recreation Services are highly decentralized, with the exception of
outdoor pool/beach lifeguard recruiting. There is little, if any, sharing
of resumes between centres. To be certain that applications or resumes
are received at each centre, they must be sent to each community
centre.
Park
Board, Association staff, and outdoor lifeguards who work with children
or vulnerable adults will be required to submit to a Criminal Record
Check.
Concession Stands
Concession Stand staff are recruited directly by the individual facility
operators. Refer to the Dining in Parks page for Concession phone numbers.
