Conditions and Terms of Use for Picnics
Please read and make sure you understand these
terms of use before you book a permit.
The following are not permitted: tents or canopies larger than 10 x 10, amplification/sound systems, rental tables/chairs, alcohol. Inflatable structures are only permitted at Prospect Point and Fraser River picnic sites. An additional fee will apply and insurance is required. Driving on the service road or grass areas to load or unload supplies is not allowed. Caterers must also wheel in from the parking lot.
Permit entitles group to permanent picnic tables ONLY at picnic site. Designated tables will be painted green with a reservation sign, or the tables will be located underneath a picnic shelter.
All groups may choose a "lunch picnic" during a 9am-4pm time frame or a "dinner picnic" from 4-9:30pm depending on availability. Each picnic booked during those times will be charged the regular picnic fee.
Adjacent grass areas beside the picnic tables are first come first serve.
If other picnic tables are located on park property they are available on a first-come first-served basis, free of charge to groups of 50 or less with no setup or caterers.
A small identification sign may be used at the picnic site, but no advertising is allowed.
Permit holders are required to inspect the premises and facilities covered by the permit prior to any use by the permit holder to ensure that the facilities are suitable for the permit holder's intended use.
All Park Board premises and facilities are accepted "as is" and are used entirely at the permit holder's own risk.
Accepting a permit from the Park Board constitutes an acknowledgement from the permit holder and/or representative that he/she has read and understands the conditions and undertakings contained therein and further that he/she has the authority to represent and bind the licensee on all matters pertaining to the permit.
Refunds of the rental fee, minus a $25.00 administration fee, will be permitted for cancellations up to fourteen (14) days prior to booking date. There are no refunds due to inclement weather conditions.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: The following "Terms
and Conditions" are incorporated into and form part of the permit
agreement:
- The licensee is responsible for ensuring that: the assigned area
is appropriate for the activity; the activity is conducted in a safe,
orderly manner; the activity is restricted to the assigned area; the
event/activities do not interfere with other park users.
- Any property damage which occurs during the permitted activity,
set-up or take down, is the responsibility of the licensee. Damage
to park property should be reported immediately. It will be assessed
and repair costs billed to the licensee.
- The licensee is responsible for leaving the area clean and litter
free and may be billed for any subsequent cost incurred by the Board
for clean-up.
- Barbeques may be used provided they are thirty (30) inches from
the ground, but not above or on asphalt, concrete or picnic tables.
Coals are to be taken off-site or placed in hot coal disposal pits.
- Only paper or plastic cups may be used for beverages. For safety
reasons, no glass containers are permitted.
- The City of Vancouver reserves the right to cancel an activity for
any reason and shall not be responsible for any associated costs or
damages.
- Payment must be made at time of booking to confirm reservation.
PARK BOARD BY-LAWS require that unless specifically
permitted:
- Vehicles are not to be parked or driven onto grassed areas or restricted
access and service roads at any time. Non-permitted vehicles may be
towed.
- Service of food is subject to by-law requirements of the City Health
Department.
- The sale of goods, the collection of an admission fee, or the operation
of a concession is prohibited.
- The operation of a public address system or amplified music is not
permitted.
- "No alcoholic beverages are to be dispensed, sold or consumed
on the park at any time." (Sections 42 and 43 of the Liquor Control
and Licensing Act).
- Signage, banners or advertisements are not permitted.
- The erection of structures, fences, poles, tents, stages, bleachers,
portable toilets, the use of fire or fireworks, or the installation
of electricity is prohibited. Permit entitles group to the permanent
picnic tables only at the designated site - please bring your permit
to the site.
Sanitation charges may apply if garbage accumulation is in excess of the on-site receptacles. All cardboard must be removed from site. Please recycle.
