Stanley Park and English Bay Seawall
Work Schedule
Working With the Tides
As the work is in the tidal zone, the contractors must work in the optimum low tide times. The work time includes the hours leading up to and following the low tide hour. A detailed work schedule is available below, and tide charts can be viewed at www.tides.gc.ca
for your information.
Unfortunately many of the low tide windows occur in the middle of the night and for this reason the contractor was granted a variance from the noise by-law.
The City understands that night work noise is very unpleasant for residents living along Beach Avenue. Graham Infrastructure Ltd. is doing as much as possible to minimize the noise during the night shift work. This has included installation of insulation and filter cloth around truck and equipment back up beepers, removal of beepers where safe work procedures can be approved by the Worker's Compensation Board BC, and requesting for concrete trucks that are equipped with ambiance noise adjusted backup beepers.
Noise variance for night work: Graham Infrastructure Ltd. was approved for a variance of the noise bylaw in order to accommodate work past regular hours. Residents located on Beach Ave from Gilford Street to Park Lane and from Bidwell Street to Jervis Street may be affected by noise. Hours of work past regular hours for the upcoming weeks are as follows:
