Project Description

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation removed the play structure located in Strathcona Linear Park in the winter of 2011 due to the age and condition of the structure.

The results of our public survey showed that the residents of the neighbourhood would like to see more planting in place of the playground.  The design of the new planting area uses perennial plants that flower throughout the season for picnickers to enjoy.  It also specifically uses plants that provide habitat for birds and butterflies to enhance the ecological function of the park.
