Victoria Park

Improvements to Victoria Park were completed in Fall 2007. Two public open houses were held to help develop concepts for the park. The first public open house was on July 6th, 2006. The community asked the Park Board to consider various improvements and address several concerns. These items included:

• Upgrades to the children's play area with all equipment located in one area
• New play equipment and the need for fencing
• Improved drainage in the park
• The need for permanent picnic tables
• The location of existing park elements to help discourage drinking
• Beautifying the space with plantings and entrance features
• Addressing poor condition of the washrooms or consider their removal
• New trash receptacles
• Improved bocce courts
• Pathways and improved lighting in the park

Two concept designs were developed and comments received from two open house meetings helped refine the design that was brought to the Parks and Recreation Planning Committee for discussion December 5th 2006, and to the Park Board Commissioners on January 15th, 2007.
