Assignment Editors: Special Events in Vancouver Parks

November 1, 2006 (No. 26) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Hershey Harriers Remembrance Day Run November 11th at Stanley Park's Brockton Oval Grounds. Run starts at 11:01 am. Register after 10 am. Phone 604-684-9771 for information.

The following Remembrance Day Ceremonies usually start 30 minutes before the 11 am moment of silence. Check local Legion Branches for further details.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Memorial Park South
Sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16 at 11 am located at East 41st Avenue and Prince Albert Street.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Grandview Park Cenotaph
Sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion #179 at 11 am located at Commercial and Cotton Drives.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Stanley Park
Sponsored by the Japanese Canadian War Memorial Committee at 11 am at the Japanese Monument near the Stanley Park Pavilion.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Victory Square
Major representation by civic officials with music at 11 am at Cambie and Hastings Streets. Come view the recent restoration work at this lovely downtown park.

Bird Walk at VanDusen Botanical Garden on November 18th at 10 am. Walk will be guided by volunteers from the Vancouver Natural History Society. Limited to first 20 participants. Free with admission.

Guided Nature Walk in Hastings Park November 25th at 10 am. The Hastings Park Conservancy hosts nature walks the fourth Saturday of each month led by a naturalist. Meet at the northeast corner of the Sanctuary. Rain or shine. Please leave your dog at home. For information call 604-255-9458.
