Assignment Editors: Special Events in Vancouver Parks

November 4, 2009 (No. 27) - Vancouver Parks host a diverse range of cultural events and outdoor activities. Listed below are some upcoming special events facilitated by the Vancouver Park Board. Free parking in parks & on city streets for vehicles displaying veteran licence plates
from Nov. 4 – 11.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall Visits VanDusen Botanical Garden Saturday, November 7th Open to the public. Assemble for the arrival of the Duchess on the lawn near the Garden entrance. With Garden admission visitors can also line the Walkabout area. Parking restrictions will be in place. The time of the event and details will be announced on Thursday, November 5th on the website www.vandusengarden.org



Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Memorial Park South  East 41st Avenue and Prince Albert Street.Ceremony begins 10:30 am  March to cenotaph at 10:15 from John Oliver SS. Sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 16. Memorial Park South event program

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Grandview Park  Sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion #179 at 11 am located at Commercial and Cotton Drives. A march to the cenotaph begins at 10:35 am from Napier Street and Commercial Drive.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Stanley Park Gather at 10:40 am Sponsored by the Japanese Canadian War Memorial Committee at the Japanese Monument near the Stanley Park Pavilion.

Remembrance Day Ceremony November 11th at Victory Square  Gather at 10:30. Major representation by civic officials at 11 am at Cambie and Hastings Streets. A colourful parade precedes the event. Event details

Hershey Harriers Remembrance Day Run November 11th at Stanley Park's Brockton Oval Grounds. Run starts at 11:01 am. Register after 10 am. Go to www.hersheyharriers.com for details.

Bright Nights in Stanley Park November 27th, 2009 to January 2, 2010, 3 to 10 pm daily Closed Christmas Day. Presented by the Vancouver Park Board and the BC Professional Firefighters' Burn Fund. Advance tickets at ticketmaster.ca or same day at the Train, noon daily. Info Line at 604-257-8531.
