Little Mountain Riley Park Community Festival at Riley Park Community Centre, Sunday, June 27

Unleash your inner artist with a number of special art projects, exhibitions and public art during Draw Down 2010 June 11 to 13. Draw on the sidewalk June 12 with Random Acts of Chalk. Museums, art galleries and some community centres (Roundhouse, Sunset, Kerrisdale, Carnegie and Ray-Cam) provide the chalk; you provide the art.

Pacific Rim Kite Festival takes place at Vanier Park June 12 and 13.

The Southeast Asian Family Association is holding its 8th annual Sawan Mela Festival (summer festival) at Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park June 12 and 13. The event includes Bollywood and Bhangra dancing, Asian food, crafts and a bazaar.

Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the waters of False Creek and onshore at Creekside Park June 19 to 20.

National Aboriginal Day at John Hendry Park, Saturday, June 21. Sponsored by Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services, the event features canoeing demonstrations, tipis, arts and crafts.

The Scotiabank Half-Marathon and 5k race takes place Sunday, June 27. The half-marathon begins at UBC and finishes near the Fish House restaurant in Stanley Park. The 5k route goes around Lost Lagoon and portions of the seawall between Second Beach and English Bay.
