Nominate a remarkable woman for 2011 poster seriesJune 2, 2010 (No. 26) - The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is accepting nominations for its popular Remarkable Women: Honouring Women From Our Vancouver Communities poster series for 2011. Nominations should be received by July 31, 2010. Posters will be published in early 2011. In keeping with Vancouver’s 125th birthday in 2011, the theme for next year’s posters is community builders. Nominated remarkable women are individuals who step forward, finding ways for people to come together to celebrate, work together, support each other and build connections in communities. They can be government or business leaders, environmentalists, artists or ordinary people from all walks of life, who work toward helping their fellow citizens. What they have in common is commitment and a passionate desire to improve their neighbourhood and promote social justice through community participation. Nominees should have contributed to community well-being and have a direct connection with Vancouver. They can be of any age and be someone from the past or someone currently working on building a better community in our Vancouver neighbourhoods. Nominations should include the name of the remarkable woman and her achievement. They can be sent to:
