Traffic advisory in Stanley Park for July 1 fireworks

June 30, 2010 (No. 13) - In anticipation of expected crowds for the July 1 Canada Day fireworks at Coal Harbour and West Vancouver, vehicle access to portions of Stanley Park may be restricted. Once parking lots are full, sections of Park Drive will be closed in order to prevent congestion or gridlock. These potential closures will begin as early as 6pm. Access to the Lions Gate Bridge via the Georgia Street viaduct and Pipeline Road will not be affected.

Spectators are encouraged to leave cars at home and take transit, walk or bike.

The Burrard Inlet Fireworks Society will be staging a fireworks show on two barges in Coal Harbour off Canada Place and Dundarave Pier in West Vancouver beginning at 10:30pm on July 1.
