"Around the Park"
Stanley Park Shuttle Bus
Getting
around Stanley Park without a car is easy with the Stanley Park
Shuttle bus service.
The shuttle service starts on Wednesday, July 1 and runs daily
through Monday, September 7, 2009 from 10:00 am until 6:30 pm. The special fleet of buses offers frequent (every 12 minutes) pick-up
service. The Shuttle has 15 specially signed stops hitting the park's most popular attractions and natural highlights. For a nominal fee of $2 for adults and $1 for kids ages 2 to 11, park visitors can ride all day, getting off and on the shuttle at their pleasure. Children under 2 ride for free.
Powered by environmentally friendly natural gas with large windows
allowing unhindered views and warm breezes on hot days, the shuttle
bus takes the worry out of finding parking spaces at the park's most
popular locations when you leave your vehicle at a centrally located
lot and hop aboard the easy to spot shuttle.
Of course the shuttle service is a real boon to visitors who walk
or take public transit as it makes it easy to explore the far
reaches of one of North America's largest public parks.
The Shuttle is a key component in the Park Board's Transportation
Plan for Stanley Park. People are encouraged to come to the park by
bus and not to bring their cars but if they do come in cars, to park
them and use the Shuttle, thereby reducing greatly the internal park
traffic. Most importantly, parking fees in Stanley Park help fund the
shuttle bus service.
The Shuttle buses, contracted from The Vancouver Trolley Company,
are identified by a unique logo and "look" and sport flags
on the front of the vehicles.
The Shuttle operates only within the park and offers wheelchair accessible
vehicles.
