Senior Citizens' unique lives
celebrated in poster series
With support from the City of Vancouver's 125th Anniversary Grants Program, this project celebrates Vancouver's eldest citizens through a series of interactive, inter-generational, and inter-cultural social events at 15 locations in Vancouver.
The project is a collection of 30 biographical stories with photographs. All elders taking part come from diverse backgrounds and communities in Vancouver. They are artists, dancers, musicians, athletes, actors, trades people, secretaries, housewives, business owners, board members, and community members. The unique lives of these seniors is representative of the evolution of Vancouver's rich history in local communities.
The posters honour two seniors from each of the 15 participating locations—community centres, Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society, South Granville Seniors Centre and 411 Seniors Centre Society. Youth from local high schools interviewed the seniors for the project.
