VanPlay, the Park Board's Parks and Recreation Services Master Plan, is our decision making guide.
VanPlay, Vancouver’s Parks and Recreation Services Master Plan, guides the work of the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. It represents a strong commitment to equitable delivery of excellent parks and recreation opportunities in a connected, efficient manner which celebrates history of the land, place, and culture.
Together, the suite of VanPlay documents provides a 100-year vision, 25-year outlook, and 10-year implementation plan. They will assist the day-to-day operations of the Vancouver Park Board by providing:
- Strategies to respond to increased and changing demand for parks and recreation services
- A comprehensive parks and recreation policy framework to advance health, wellness, and social inclusion
- Methods for prioritizing the development and renewal of parks and recreation facilities and amenities
VanPlay Framework
The framework provides an overview of VanPlay and quick reference guide. On October 19, 2020, Park Board Commissioners approved the VanPlay Framework PDF file (4 MB); a succinct method of referencing the full suite of VanPlay documents and a decision-making tool for VanPlay implementation.
Reports 1 and 2
On July 23, 2018, Park Board Commissioners unanimously approved Report 1: Inventory and analysis and Report 2: 10 Goals to Shape the Next 25 Years.
Reports 3 and 4
On October 9, 2019, Park Board Commissioners unanimously approved Report 3: Strategic Bold Moves and Report 4: The Playbook: implementation plan.
VanPlay progess
Since the VanPlay framework was adopted in October of 2020, many initiatives and actions are underway. Refer to these updates to the Park Board on the highlights for each year.
